First Sprint Tri

I had my first sprint tri last Sunday.  I have done a beginner tri which was a little shorter.  I am a little disappointed because our times are still not posted and I really know what I want to do.  The race was great and so much fun my husband did it with me to.  I am so glad we can do these things together he really motivates me to try harder.  I am so lucky because my parents are so supportive in everything I do and my mom got up at 5am with us to get up and watch us race.  I love having her there she is so wonderful.
My husband and I before the race started

The swim I was very happy about it was a 500 meter swim.  I felt very comfortable and by my watch I finished in 16min which I know to some is not very fast but it was only a minute slower than my pool swims.  I do want to get faster but I am not sure how to do that and save my energy for the rest of the race.  If anyone has any good pointers please feel free to let me know.

My husband finishing the swim strong.  He is the one without a beer belly!

Running in after my swim I was so happy how great I felt.

The bike is my favorite but I notice that I need to continue to push myself.  I get comfortable and start to take it easy which is great for a bike ride but for a race I want to go fast.  I have decided that I think I am ready to try out my aero bars!  I have been so nervous but I am so comfortable on my bike now.

I am having a little chat with my mom!  I am sure my transition time was slow but worth being able to chat it up with my mom love her.

Oh the run I am glad I am on a half marathon schedule because my run was terrible.  It was only a 5k but it killed me.  My legs were so tired and my form is terrible.  I slouch forward so bad and I will not be posting pictures of me running because my form is so bad.  I have never thought of my form but after seeing pictures I look like I am struggling so bad and that I have never ran before.  That will be my goal on my running get back to where I was and work on my form.

All in all I really enjoyed myself and I can't wait to do another one.  I hope to get my times soon and when I do I will post them soon.

Doing it again

Today is the first day of my Half Marathon training!  I am excited to get back into but I am only running three days a week so I can still do triathlon training.  I am hoping that I convinced some of my girlfriends to start training with me and we do a girls half.  We are wanting to do the race in February so we have plenty of time to train not sure what race yet.  I would love to hear of any good races y'all have done around that time?

This weekend there is a sprint triathlon close to home and I think my husband and I are going to do it.  Should be interesting since we haven't done many open water swims lately.  I will definitely let you know how it goes after the race.

Got to Love Productive Saturdays

I know it's already Wednesday I am a little late on posting.  This last Saturday was so great.  I slept in till 8am and then my husband and I got up and ran just 3 miles but I had not ran in months so it was a good start.  It was getting warm so we got a good sweat.  My husband then went off to his fantasy football draft thing so I had the house to myself.  Just how I like it when it is time to clean.  Did I ever clean.  I even vacuumed our couch that is how hard I cleaned.  It was such a nice feeling to get everything done.  So here it is my after run and cleaning picture.  So many blogs I read always take there after glow of their run.  Well I forgot so you get the glow after run and cleaning.

Yes I still have all my running gear on because I usually sweat when I clean house it would be pointless to change.

I hope everyone is having a great week.  Also, I really don't think anyone ever reads my blogs so if you do and know of a good way to get my blog out there in blog world I would love the help as of now I have one follower :(.   THANKS!

Cruise

It has been a bit since my last post because I went on a Family Vacation!  We went on a cruise on Royal Caribbean.  Not much to say but it was an amazing, beautiful, and relaxing trip.  Below I will post a few pictures with info on where we went.

San Juan Puerto Rico.  This is where we left from and stayed there the night before.  That is me and my mom relaxing by the pool and then us all starting the trip right with margaritas!
Our cruise ship was so big this is all I could get of it.
My brother and I on the first formal night.
Our first stop was Curacao we just went shopping so this is the best picture I have.  My brother and Cousin and a papermache person.
Second stop was Aruba!  We went snorkeling and swinging.  The boat that you see here is what we took and it had a rope swing.
My husband and I right after I did the rope swing.
This is what we got to see every night a beautiful sunset!
We then went to Dominica and went to the waterfalls and black beach.  The waterfall was so beautiful and we had so much fun swimming in the water which was so fresh and cool. The black beach was so neat and hot!  It is black from the volcano's on the island.
Picture of my husband and I on the second formal night.  Yeah get got me a red rose!
Our last stop was St. Thomas which is beautiful and my favorite place.  We snorkeled and saw some amazing fish and giant turtles!  That day we decided that every picture we took would be a funny face.  We also went to a beach and it was beautiful.  We couldn't of asked for a better last day.
Every night our stateroom guy would leave us a towel animal.  My husband and I decided we felt bad for him because he never got a towel animal so we made him one!

These are just a few pictures I tried to narrow it down a lot it was hard.  But we had such a great time.  We were ready to come back and start planning our next trip!  But we had to come back to training.  We are not signed up for any races but I think there is a Sprint Tri in September we are going to do.  My husband keeps doing good with his half ironman training now he just needs to pick a race to do.  Any suggestions?

An amazing ride for an amazing Man

I finished the Tour De Cure with my fastest average speed!  It was such a nice ride and I was very lucky my husband rode with me the whole time!  The first lap was around the Texas motor speed way track.  It was pretty awesome and kind of scary if you didn't stay on the flat bottom part on the turns.  You don't realize in the stands but those turns are so tilted.  I love doing bike races but this one by far is my favorite.  All money raised went to American Diabetes Association.  Last November I lost my dad and even though he didn't have diabetes any more because of a pancreas transplant we believe the type 1 diabetes caused all the problems that lead up to his death.  It was a very hard emotional ride but I know he would of been proud.
This is at the 2nd rest stop with my Mom, Brother, and Sister in-law. They made shirts in memory of my Dad! I just love it and was a great surprise to see them at the stop.

I have another race this weekend it is the Goatneck and I have heard it is very hilly so I opted to do the 27 mile rather than the 41 miler with my husband and friend.  It should be a lot of fun hopefully the weather works in our favor and it stays somewhat cool!

Its been awhile but here you go its a lot!

Yes that’s me the only girl!

I have decided that I love my bike I enjoy doing bike races they are just so much fun. I don’t think I am very fast and its official I need to work on riding up hills. I just recently did the peach pedal which was officially my very first event to do with no family support. My entire family was out of town. But I was very excited to have met up with an old high school friend. I am so glad I did to I am hoping to do more rides with him and his friends. One of the guys has a website that is currently free to join and it is to encourage people to be active. http://www.dosomethinganything.com/ They will send you a some kind of gear and any time you upload pictures wearing the gear after doing something active you earn points and you can win fabulous prizes! Check out the website I personally think it is a great thing more people need to be active.

I ended up doing the 26 mile course at the peach pedal which was a good workout. I then waited for my husband to get back into town to go check out the peach festival which was a lot of fun but it was so hot we walked around once and headed home. My next ride is coming up quickly it is July 24 and it’s the Tour de Cure. All money raised goes to American Diabetes Association. I found out about the race about two weeks ago and I am proud to say I have already raised 406 dollars. My goal is 500 I am doing this ride in memory of my dad who we lost in November he had type 1 diabetes and caused many of the problems he overcame throughout his life. I am honored that I can do this ride in his memory and I would love to have any donations I can get even words of encouragement are great to have. Cheetos YUM

I am officially married and maybe some day I will post a blog with a few pictures in the mean time my husband now that I can call him that is very creative! I wonder sometimes if I married a 5 year old or a 32 year old. He is so great and does always seem to find a way to make me laugh. Yesterday on our drive home from his work Softball game we had a few Cheetos puffs. My husband takes huge bites of food probably the biggest I have ever seen so it was not unusual that he stuck the whole Cheetos puff in his mouth. Above is the picture of him making the Cheetos into a retainer. I am one lucky girl!
